To be sure, Liberia’s president, the first female head of state in Africa, has not done enough to tackle the country’s endemic corruption, but few think anyone but Sirleaf could have helped rescue the country the way she did—twice
 Amazing job for the President of Liberia.  We are predestine by God for leadership. President Sirleaf at the age of 76 represents outstanding greatness as we wind down March women of Greatness.

Critical Thinking

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
Critical Thinking:

1) critical thinking is not just thinking, but thinking which entails self-improvement

2) this improvement comes from skill in using standards by which one appropriately assesses thinking. To put it briefly, it is self-improvement (in thinking) through standards (that assess thinking).

Before the term Critical Thinking was develop we use the words common sense.  This term was used when we needed direction, judgment and sound decision making. I notice many Colleges and Universities offer the course Critical Thinking.  News flash ! This subject should begin at home.

Like Forrest Gump would say "Stupid is as Stupid does"  I'm not sure if Williams thought he was auditioning for a new TV series pilot or gathering brownie points within the neighborhood.  For whatever reason it was a non thought out senseless act that harm two other individuals. Less not forget the lost of his freedom for a long time.
For all when in doubt between right and wrong do it the old fashion way. Ask God. He has provide us with oldest book base on Critical Thinking the Bible.   God also provided us with the greatest facilitator ever Jesus Christ. Today we can seek guidance and Wisdom with the Holy Spirit.

Job well done

By now you can tell Psalm 55:12-13 is one of my all time favorite verses. It fitting for all of the social issues we are experiencing today.
 

 
The president of the University of Oklahoma announced he's severing ties with the local chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon after several members of the fraternity were caught on camera singing a racist song. 
    First we must commend the students at the University of Oklahoma for getting the job done in a Peaceful way.  Everyone on that bus that chanted those racial slurs should realize we are not having it.  God's not having it. Nobody's greater! Outside of that fraternity house they were attacking all students Black and White along with the revenue from sports sponsors that  support The University of Oklahoma. What made those college students join a Fraternity that support racism?  Let's take it home. Their parents might not have told them to join but no one said that sort of behavior is was not right.

We read Psalm  55 when we viewed the 50th anniversary Selma March. Well it also applies to world issues because Jesus Christ is the light of the world.
From Selma, Ferguson Mo. to South Africa the lesson to learn is the Lord is the light.

KKK superiority, Black on Black crime , Dysfunctional Family's the list is endless.  The point is all the hate being displayed is anti Christ.  God sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to deliver his message of  Love and Peace to the World. As Psalms 23 states the Lord is the light not man.

March 7 marks the 50th anniversary of the Selma March also known as Bloody Sunday. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Congressman John Lewis, and so many other unsung heroes crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge -- standing up for voting rights and full equality under the law for all Americans.
 
Since Bloody Sunday life has change for the better .  The Civil Rights movement got the job done.  The enemy in today's society is within ourselves. By not getting out to vote we have manage to drop the ball.
As a random act of kindness share with someone the Goodness of God and how he provided us with such faithful Civil Right leaders as John Lewis, Dr. Joseph Lowery and Jessie Jackson.  Be a Blessing and share some  Black History.

Mentor

We are going to continue with our relationship series.  We previously covered the importance of families in developing social skills with each other. What if their is no family to turn too?  Many of our youth are in foster care or just raising themselves .  Well today more than every before we rely on others for help or what we now call mentors.  Remember Jesus Christ was the original mentor sent by God.

Mentors:  a wise and trusted counselor or teacher.

In 1993 the National Guard founded the Youth ChalleNGe program in an attempt to help curtail the growing high school dropout crisis and its impact on the nation's youth, economy and national security. Over 8,000 students are dropping out of school every ...

Within our homes as parents we are considered the advisers for our children. It is our job to help develop our children's attitude about God and each other. I know some parents think If I cloth, educate, and feed my child I 'm done.  Not!
  Proverbs states Wisdom can be gain from our advisers. So parents take ownership of your duties as an adviser. Clearly the best go to person about life is Mom and Dad. Besides we don't want the streets to take over our duties.

The Love between a Man and Woman is defined several times in the Bible.  This is a special commitment that should be honored and respected by both Man and Woman under the guidance of Jesus Christ.
No one wants to loose their spouse to another man, woman, drugs or any social pressures. All relationship we share should be God centered.

The Serpent Beguile Eve

 
Author Acacia Slaton has written a book that many people can identify with.  The Serpent Beguile Eve ls a story about a Woman that lost her husband to another Man. As a mother of 2 Eve thought her marriage was secure.

During my lifetime I have witness many broken relationships between parents and children, man and wife and brother and sisters.  If many individuals that are God centered would reach out to like minded individuals as friends and mates we could reduce the rate of error.  Like needs to be with like mined.  Being honest and true to yourself and others can eliminate heart break.  That is an important lesson that I was reminded of  by my mother.

 Relationships , how we treat each other should be taught at an early age. Why? If your life is God centered you have the right to expect that from another individual.  When in question about another persons character ask God. Then rely on the Holy Spirit to guide and direct your choices.
Question is are your life choices centered around God?

Friends? or Terrorist

Previously we spoke about living life for your highest good and greatest Joy.  Today we are going to Pray about Friends. What is a Friend?

Friend: a person who is on good terms with another; a person who is not hostile:

Yes Jesus and his Disciples were friends.  They had a common great goal. Delivering the message of God.
 
Today as we select our friends we should select our relationships base on common goals and knowledge.  That common factor should be centered around God.  Remember we should all be working for each others highest good and greatest joy.

As  children our personal circle of people is selected for us.  As a parent it is important what we display and teach our children about the Love and respect Jesus taught.  Some may say "it's not all that" Yes it is . It's all of that and then some.  Today I can't tell the difference between the Friends of Mariah , ISIS the terrorist group, Gangsters, Mafia or Shug Knight. Really can you see the difference?
The best recipe for Friendship is " God + You + Me= Friends".   Make a conscious decision while fasting for Lent to eliminate anyone that is not working for your highest good or greatest joy. 
Within your  circle of Family and Friends remember Friends are to be use not abuse.

Lent

What is Lent?  Lent is the opportunity to change what we ought to change but have not...Lent is about becoming, doing and changing whatever it is that is blocking the fullness of life in us right now... Lent is a summons to live anew...Lent is the time to let life in again, to rebuild the worlds we've allowed to go sterile, to "fast and weep and mourn" for the goods we've foregone. If our own lives are not to die from lack of nourishment, we must sacrifice the pride or the sloth or the listlessness that blocks us from beginning again. Then, as

Lent
 Joel (2:12-18) promises, God will have pity on us and pour into our hearts the life we know down deep that we are lacking

February 18, 2015 marks the beginning of the Lent season. Lent gives us an opportunity to get rid of the old (garbage) and welcome the new (Grace of God).
While fasting this is the perfect time to reprogram our thoughts.  We might have to eliminate some people, places and terrible habits. Why not ?  If it's not working for your highest good and greatest joy it must go.  Got to go! Got to go !
