After God

Eilene and Morgan

  Acts 17:28-29New International Version (NIV)
28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’[a] As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’[b]

29 “Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill.
After God what is next?  Family.  We develop our basic  social skills from our families as children. In my home we were expected to go to school ,attend church on Sunday and sing in the choir and perform community service.   I learned to care, give and respect from my Parents.   My mom was always helping someone. When  my grandparents lived with us we took care of each other.  As a teenager while my dad was ill we took care of him at home  until he passed away.  That is what family's do.

I am speaking on this subject because this week is about family and  how we interact with each other can impact our children's academic and social development.  The Daniels family was not perfect some dysfunctional.  But  most of us are very spiritual.  That's why today we know how to care and check on each other. I mention care.. Clothing and feeding your children is not enough in our society today.

As a random act of kindness make this Labor Day weekend a Labor of love. Check on what is your family thinking.  Be a Blessing give a Blessing!

Rebuild

Al Sharpton
Rev. Al Sharpton

2 Samuel 8:15New International Version (NIV)

David’s Officials

15 David reigned over all Israel, doing what was just and right for all his people.

Michael Brown's funeral is a reminder that change must take place from within.  Rev.Al Sharpton stated that we need  to seek change and justice from the Federal level on how to police our streets in America .  Sharpton also commented  we have work to do also in our homes and communities

We need to start in our homes to stop young people from killing each other.  The numbers are high on police officers killing our youth but the rate of teens killing each other is the worst. As a parent if  you don't know what to say to your child purchase a bible  and read Exodus 20: the 10 commandments.underline thou shall not kill. You would not believe how many parent's have not share this info with their kids. Some parents think they kids should know better or learn at school or figure it out.  As a parent if you think like that you need to check yourself about about your purpose as a parent.

As a random act of kindness of kindness check yourself and assist a young person about the purpose of life.  Be a Blessing give a Blessing.

Philippians 3:8New International Version (NIV)

What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ

Kylie's fight with cancer pushed her to invent a life-changing device.

Kylie Simonds
Kylie Simonds, from Naugatuck, Connecticut, understands what the struggle with cancer entails. The 11-year-old says she remembers struggling to walk around with IV poles, after she was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma -- a connective tissue cancer -- three years ago, according to WTNH. That's why she invented a pediatric IV backpack: a wearable, portable IV machine for kids receiving chemotherapy or transfusions. The bag even comes in colorful designs.

As parents we underestimate our children full potential.  As a random act of kindness help a child navigate their dream.  Be a Blessing give a Blessing.

Help

    Genesis 2:18New International Version (NIV)
18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.

I did.  As an adult I have volunteered for March of Dime  ,United Way, Young Democrats of Georgia, Andrew Young mayoral race and Barack Obama .  The point is in order to make a change we must be involved in our communities.

Revelation 6:2New International Version (NIV)

I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.
Win or lose, youngsters from Chicago will leave a lasting impression on the Little League World Series.
The Jackie Robinson West team is comprised of all African-American players. On Thursday, their league will make its first appearance in 31 years in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania - the latest indicator that baseball is making small strides in an effort to lure young African-Americans back to the game.  If you would like to know their future games. http://www.sbnation.com/2014/8/14/5990727/2014-little-league-world-series-bracket-format-schedule

As parents this is how you do it. Encouraging your child to be a team player in any activity or sport is important. Parents and Grandparents are willing to put in the time for this Chicago Team. As parents we must put in the time to build character.  You pay now or later but you will pay. The outcome could be a superstar or convict, you do the math.

Go Jackie Robinson West! You got the power.

Dare to Dream

Psalm 126

A song of ascents.

When the Lord restored the fortunes of[a] Zion,
we were like those who dreamed.[b]

Jasmine Lawrence was 11 years old when a bad relaxing perm caused her hair to fall out. "It was embarrassing, it was traumatic, it was totally shocking to me," Jasmine told "The Oprah Show" back in 2007. "It got to the point where I only had hair on the top of my head. So, I was braiding it down to cover up this area where I had no hair."
From then, she vowed to never use harsh chemicals on her hair again. Jasmine researched how to create her own all-natural hair products and it wasn't long before the teen named herself CEO and founder of EDEN BodyWorks, her own product line

Today, Jasmine is 23 years old. "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" caught up with her recently to find out how she and her company have been doing since first appearing on "The Oprah Show.
The company is reportedly worth 2 million dollars, but Jasmine says the money hasn't changed much in terms of her lifestyle. "I don't live as if I was a millionaire," she says with a laugh. "I have a normal phone. I drive a car that's from 2008 that I'm still making payments on, I'm paying my own college tuition -- just normal things so I can have the regular experiences of life."

As a random act of kindness encourage and guide a child  live their positive dream.  Be a Blessing give a Blessing.

Networking

As parents it is so important to realize  you need a sound support system.  After God you need someone to count on.

Genesis 49:25New International Version (NIV)

25 because of your father’s God, who helps you,Image result for jesus artwork
because of the Almighty,[a] who blesses you
with blessings of the skies above,
blessings of the deep springs below,
blessings of the breast and womb

First let me say thank you God for leading me to right people. The entire Power family,Notrice,Billie, Corliss, Daniels,Jenkins and  Miller family,  I remember when Morgan was sick
my mom would fly in from Chicago or  Mrs. Jenkins would say bring her .over.

Corlis would rent a cabin and provide a camp for the week. Spring break field trips in Europe,South or Central America was planned  with friends.  I remember working in India I had to call on Aunt
Alberta and Aunt Barbara and Carmen to take care of Morgan.

This kind of love is priceless. As long as I live I thank God and these individuals with random acts of kindness.

Global Chaos

Leviticus 19:17New International Version (NIV)

A white-painted church at sunset.
Emanuel African Methodist Church
17 “‘Do not hate a fellow Israelite in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in their guilty.

Around the world from then the Gaza strip to Charleston  South Carolina we have witness hate crimes. For what?

These hate crimes began long before we were born ,before Christ.  That's why God sent his only begotten son to help us out.

Entitlement around the world is a huge problem. From a carjacking in Atlanta to the Gaza strip in the middle east.
God created us all equal .
Dylann Roof

Mugshot of Roof taken by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, June 18, 2015.  I sometimes wonder what families like Dylann Roof discuss at Sunday's dinner at Grandma's house.  I don't think it was God's word. To walk in a church and kill 9 people because of the color of their skin is evil.

Don't get it twisted from the color of your skin to the money you may have in your bank account we are created equal in the eyes of God.  Because when we die none of the above really matters. Let love and peace begin in your heart and home so that it can be taken to the streets.

Gaza

Chicago's overnight violence
Chicago gang death
Finally, we must care enough to discuss what's wrong and find a good approach for resolution. We must resolve that together .because interaction does not work for everyone. And realize that sometimes distance makes for the best family comfort.  Some folks are simply meant to be left alone. You simply pray for your wayward family member and say, go with God. We must transcend our conditions.

As a random act of kindness -- pray for family, peace and harmony. Embrace a new normalcy within your family. Be a blessing and give a blessing!

Big Payback!

As parents we trust our schools to provide our children with a good education.  Why not we all pay our tax's

Mark 11:22-23New International Version (NIV)

22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly[a] I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.

Beverly Hall

Former Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Beverly Hall is accused in a cheating scandal in which bonuses were allegedly given for rising test scores and falling scores were met with intimidation, including threats of termination

Beverly Hall

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
All of the 35 educators indicted in the Atlanta Public Schools cheating scandal have been booked into the Fulton County Jail, with the final defendant turning herself in Wednesday afternoon.
Former D.H. Stanton Elementary Principal Willie Davenport surrendered to authorities and posted bond, said Fulton sheriff’s spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan. She’s charged with racketeering and making false statements for falsifying student records. The Fulton County Jail listed her bond as $100,000

Yes Beverly Hall made her Principal's change testing scores for the love of money. Her last bonus was over $750,000.  All thou student's didn't learn anything in class.
Beverly Hall taught us all a serious lesson,   For the love of money you can not be low down and dirty. Currently Mrs. Hall is suffering terminal cancer and may not make her Aug 11 court date.

If Beverly Hall was on Wall Street the Stock Market would have crashed.  With her Jamacia born hustle mentality she actually believed she could get away with it. I also find it amazing her former New York school district did not speak up until her arrest in Atlanta.
.
Our children and parents deserve the best and God will do the rest.  With stage 4 Brest cancer I think  God moved this mountain. You think?

As a random act of kindness let someone know low down and dirty is not healthy.  Be a Blessing give a Blessing.

Family is!

Baby
Janessa Gibb

Psalm 17:7New International Version (NIV)

Show me the wonders of your great love,
you who save by your right hand
those who take refuge in you from their foes

She told INSIDE EDITION, "When I think of my birth mother it makes me feel sad sometimes. I don't think she dropped me off because she didn't want me, but maybe because she couldn't take care of me."

Janessa is forever thankful she landed in the loving embrace of Sara who gave her a mother's love, saying, "I think she made a good decision because she needed me and I needed her.

Now, 18 years later, baby Janessa has grown up. Janessa said, "My mother means the world to me."

Motherhood

Isaiah 66:13 says -- As one whom his mother comforts, So I will comfort you. And, you will be comforted all over Jerusalem

Growing up I had many mothers in my life. Aunts, Cousins, Neighbors, Teachers -- were always mothering me. I learned something from each of them (cross your legs, stand up straight, say please and thank you). Being an older Mom -- I thought long and hard about the type of mother that I wanted to be.  My cousin would say thats the "Virgo" in me. Always planning and always thinking!
I recall a conversation with my OB years ago. I told her my baby had to be born in September (so we could be Virgos) and have a hebrew name. She laughed and said that I would teach my baby many things and that he would teach me to be patient. Well, he was born Oct. 1 as a Libra, ha, ha. In fact, Mothering HAS taught me to be patient. I parent via text, via phone, and via discipline and with patience. My greatest reward is that my sons honor God and treat others with dignity and respect. My greatest fear is that someone will disrespect them. All else can be fixed, changed

My friends always comments that I'm a "good mom, good mom!" My sister says "I'm a good mom -- given my limited resources." But, honestly, I don't feel extraordinary. I stress education, family and God  because knowledge is power and the cost of a limited education can hurt us all.

This is my cousin Caroline. Caroline is outstanding  mom. We both learned from our parent's you do not need to spend the most money to teach your kids basic life skills. Quality time is essential. Last week Caroline's son  David wrote a blog talking about his life skills he learned from Perdue University. David stated management of money , time and respect was important. Daniel,David and Jason Luv you!

Motherhood is the most important job in the world. Labor really begins at birth until young adulthood.

As a random act of kindness hug a mother that you come in contact with today! Be a blessing -- give a blessing of wisdom to a young mother.
